Below page 372 of book titled 'Travels and Adventures of the Rev. Joseph Wolff' shows Italian General Avitabile asked Raja Sher Singh for £500,000/- and promised to account for these. However, General Avitabile deposited this in the Bank of England under his name and later used these funds in building his country house.
This shows how Bank of England was used in transition of wealth from the Sikh Empire.
According to Bank of England inflation calculator, £500,000 in 1850 is around £52 million in today’s money.
